I didn't like the solutions they used. Too much cement. This is not a traditional way of making a tile roof. In ancien times cement wasn't used on roofs.

ha … just sat and watched this whole video… thoroughly enjoyed it… just an observation , you could have just dipped the roof tiles into your bucket of water and allow for saturation … or was there another treason why you brushed the water onto the tiles ?….
Good luck with the rest of your build …. the weather has been kind to you ! 🙂

@44:35 you know he's a British in France because we don't make roofs with batten horizontally. building regulations are a vertical batten on top of rafters, then a horizontal batten for tiles/roofing. Doing like such lets air going inside between the membrane and the tiles reducing moisture so the carpentry lasts for years…
And we let the tip of the membrane 3/4 centimetres laying down in the gutter so even with a broken tile, rain water would drain off the roof.
I hope this does make sens
Otherwise, thanks for sharing Good Job!

Хорошая,дружная работа. Счастья и любви в этот дом. ( Но девушке необходимо было дать перчатки,чтобы она доски голыми руками не брала.) Good, friendly work. Happiness and love in this house. ( But the girl had to give gloves to a Board with his bare hands not take.)

Sorry, but made to look original, but with too many unnecessary joints, in timbers that should have been full length, should have took the whole roof off to start with, and not patch in a new one, too many issues to correct, but won't last as long as the old one you took off……

That's about $50-60k in labor and materials, contractor's cost. If you purchase from a home building company add 30-50% general contractor surcharge. Most people would not build like that since it's cost prohibitive and unnecessary so I imagine it is the homeowner who does the work himself.
